Activities for kids!
So, on Tuesday and Wednesday we had my sister, Jessica, and her husband, Scott's three kids! haha. I was kind of nervous, not going to lie.. I was like what on earth am I supposed to do with three kids ages 6, 4, and 2?? But I'm happy to report that it was so fun and everything worked out! (Semi thanks to Pinterest..lol) On Tuesday we just kind of hung out and played the board game Temple Run then we went to the park. I didn't think the park down the street was a far walk until I walked there with three kids haha. On the walk back from the park I think they were so exhausted. But they were so hilarious. We had chicken alfredo pasta for dinner then that night we played Mario Party on the Wii. Jackson and Carson were so competitive, they asked, "Who is winning?" after almost every turn. haha. It was funny.
Then Wednesday we did all sorts of fun activities. We had breakfast and read books, (well tried, we don't really have kids books haha) and then built marshmallow buildings with colored marshmallows and toothpicks. Then they started making snakes and people and it was fun.The boys built some pretty fun things. Oakley mostly just put the marshmallows on the toothpicks and then ate them, but I'm glad she was enjoying herself.
Then after lunch we played some quiet games, like monopoly junior, while Oakley took a nap. I had bought some squirt guns for $0.97 at the store and a bag of water balloons. That was a good few hours of fun! They were so funny playing hot potato with the balloons and limbo with the hose. They were so much fun! Tim was so cute with the kids and he played in the water and had a squirt gun fight with them. Eventually when my hair and shirt were soaked anyway, I put on my swimming suit and joined in the fun. We had otter pops and snacks and showers then Tim and Jackson and Carson played on the iPad and our phones and Wii Sports while I made dinner and Oakley played with our fridge magnets. She would ask me what every single one was and it was so funny. The magnets were ones I made a few years ago, with clear rocks and stamps or scrapbook paper, but they are super easy to make! Then we ate Chicken Broccoli Casserole (See Week 17 meal time for the recipe) and I think it turned out the best that I've ever cooked it. I was proud lol. Then we played Shapes Bingo. Then we got ready for bed and watched a bugs life. It was so much fun to get to spend time with them! And I'm glad Jessica and Scott go to Cirque Du Soleil in Vegas for Scott's 30th Birthday!
Shapes Bingo
Okay so this is what I did for this activity, but eventually I want to make real cards and print them off and laminate them. These I just did by hand. So I had six cards they could choose from that are each different. There are nine shapes and four colors. So I had two bowls and they drew out a color and drew out a shape. Then we used some marshmallows as markers and they had to get four in a row to win. It was fun! But I think they liked the marshmallow buildings a little bit better.. So maybe I'll try it again and see what I can do differently.
