Danelle Cheney, a graphic designer, illustrator, photographer and awesome girl, SUU Graduate, came to our school to give a presentation and to do a workshop. Check out her work http://danellecheney.com
For the workshop we built a typeface out of cheese. Yes real cheese. You wouldn't have wanted to eat it because it had nasty pencil all over it, but it was fun and interesting.
She had created the main shape letters and then everyone created the rest of the letters and punctuation based on those. So we used tracing paper to get the correct angles and shapes then we placed the tracings onto a blocks of cheese and cut out the letters! They were then positioned so that they could be photographed for the Outstanding Student's Art Insights presentation posters!
