Week 21: Project -- Christmas JOY decor

Project:

Christmas JOY in a frame!

What you need:

newspaper / plastic to protect surfaces from paint/glitter
wood letters from Jo-Ann that have a beveled edge
glittered snowflake from a craft store (cut the insert or "stem" off with wire cutters)
acrylic paint
paintbrushes
glitter
picture frame from a thrift store
and an empty wall with a need for Christmas decor :]
drill or hammer and a nail

What you'll do:
cover the surface with plastic or newspaper. Paint the letters with the acrylic paint. Using a small round brush go over the beveled edge with another coat of paint. Do small sections at a time. While the paint is wet, sprinkle the glitter onto the edges. Measure about 3/4 of an inch down from the top of each letter. Find the center of the letter and using a drill (we didn't have one at the time, so I used a hammer and nail and this is what i did: pounded the nail in so the point of the nail made the beginning of the hole. Then i flipped the nail over and used the head of the nail to widen the hole. Be sure you have a thick nail if you do this method. Also make sure you do NOT go all the way through the wooden letter.) Measure and hang nails into the wall and then the holes in the back of you letters will fit right onto the nails! Hot glue the snowflake onto the frame. Hang the frame (with no glass or backing) around the letters and Voila! Enjoy!!
